Working Knives

Working knives are those designed for the kitchen, camp, or for the hiking trail. They include hunters, skinners, fish filleting knives, neck knives, French blades and boning and utility knives.  Some of the knives shown here are available for sale, or I can make one to order if I don't stock it. Kitchen Knives
These are industrial size knives made from 5160 alloy. Differentially heat treated for ultimate strength and toughness. French knives are available with 8, 9 or 10 inch blades and a variety of grip materials and finishes. Matching knife block optional. The knives pictured here are finished with Purple Heart, an exotic hardwood known for its resistance to wetness and rot.  From $175 (more options below)
Table Side Carving Set
Forged from 440C stainless steel, with steel bolster and pommel cap. Indian rose wood grips, in an attractive walnut presentation box. $475
Fish Filleting Knife
This filleting knife is forged from a broken sabre blade. Super flexible for small fish and birds. Zebra wood grip, steel pommel. Double-stitched cowhide sheath. From $75
Drop Point Hunter
This simple design is both elegant as well as practical. Forged from 5160 alloy, differentially heat treated. Hidden pin steel bolsters, Bocote scales. 4 inch grip, 5 1/4 inch blade. Double-stitched leather sheath. $200
Small Skinner
Similar in design to the hunter, this one is also forged from the same steel. The grip is smaller for a small hand. 3 1/2 inch grip, 4 inch blade. Complete with leather sheath. $200
"Neck Knives"
These little utility knives are worn around the neck. Popular with hikers, hunters and campers. Fashioned from 440C stainless steel, these are "stock removal" blades, not forged. Heat treated and polished to a mirror finish. Stag antler grip or carved cocobolo, double-stitched leather sheath. $50 to $75
Japanese Style French Blade
440C stainless steel hardened to Rc 58.5, this traditional French blade is styled in the popular Japanese fashion of simple, straight lines. It is made using the "stock removal" method, not forged. The bolster, spacers and pommel are 316 stainless steel, with cocobolo wood and black marble. $300
Divers' Knife
This "Shark Knife" is made from 440C stainless steel with Corian grips and pins. All Stainless steel and water proof synthetics construction, including the molded ABS sheath. $200
Drop Point Hunter
This hunting knife is embellished with file work on the spine and tang. Forged from 5160 carbon steel with antler bolsters, hazelnut and walnut scales and red leather and steel spacers. The sheath and frog are double-stitched cow hide. 5 1/2 inch blade 9 3/4 inch total length.
Can-welded Damascus Utility Knife
For the discerning hiker, camper or hunter, this can-welded damascus knife is as beautiful as it is practical. Forged from a combination of W1, 1095, mild steel and nickel, this patterned damascus blade is sure to spark interest. The solid copper bolster and pommel,and brass and black leather spacers accent the polished White tail buck antler grip. Complete with double-stitched cowhide sheath $300
Kitchen Knife Set
Typically consisting of a chef's knife, utility knife and sharpening steel, this set is delivered in a leather pouch with various configurations and designs. Wood handles and knife style can be specified.
